New old beasts (More RT fauna)

Some time ago a new initiative came up in the Oldhammer Forum. The mastermind Diego Serrate AKA 'Obscure Creator' has been a busy bee in recent times. He has been sculpting oldskool looking minis on his own. Let me bring you up the first one, a Space Minotaur!

Space Minotaur looking for a Space Theseus

Lost in Labyrinth

I should have added some tatoos, now that I think of it...

A better front view:

Whatcha lookin'?

I used a brown palette, but I believe black would fit in better. Don't worry, I have another Mino, so I'll try black with him ;)
Also the red pattern for the stuff adds a touch of colour. It was a decision I came up with when I faced the project, as I also had a few Phagons by EM4 and wanted all the bunch to look the same:

Should I shave my goatee?

So the whole bunch so far looks like this:

Horned furries, they all make a great team

So here they are, ready to terrify the galaxy! I'll be adding another Minotaur, and I'll show other creations by the same sculptor as soon as I can. Stay tuned!

EDIT: Here you have the facebook link to Obscure Creator aka Troll Outpost. :)

  2. These look the part and I think you're on to something with the nod to the myth - there's a lot could be done with the classical associations even beyond 40K-type space fantasy. Do you know if and where Obscure Creator is still selling them?

    1. Thanks! I do believe these minis are really nice and get the right vibe. I also got a couple of Piscean Warriors and a Fimir and I can't wait to paint them!
You can contact the sculptor at the Oldhammer Forum or at Facebook (he is known as "Troll Outpost" there). I think he will be glad to hear his work raises attention! :)

I have a plan for my copy of the minotaur above, also plus a bunch of Phagon beastmen. I have an idea for a nod to the myth too funnily enough. I dont think atht I will get to it for a while yet though. But this post hasme itching to get working on them all the same...

  4. Very well done Suber. I never liked the concept of minotaurs though I can't say why I feel this way, lol. Everything about them creeps me out more than say a horror character like Chucky ... hmmm ... maybe not Chucky cause he is one creepy doll. :)

    1. Haha, I guess that was the original intention whenever anyone thought of a monster half a man half a bull! I may try a Minotaur dressed like Chucky! :D

Those Phagons are an amazing companion for the Minotaur!
...Just thinking...you may need some more of them once the second minotaur and the boss come in.... :)
