Muties! (Pt. 4, some colour at last!)

Switching again between tasks; at least this time it's within the boundaries of the same project (as if that ever stopped me to suddenly jump over whatever totally different thing. Ahem). While I keep on greenstuffing post apoc beasts, I've painted the first batch of muties I had converted. You have already seen the process and the internal logic behind them, so there's little thing left to say about. The palette is deliberately dirty, with high predominance of brown (different tones of it, which are barely seen in my shitty pics, agh), with some touches of brighter colour to break monotony. The skin tones are also different from mutant to mutant, sometimes even in different parts of the same mini. Some of them are pale, some others got nuke burnts. But they are all equally ugly!

Here you have them, in no particular order:

I have to admit that I may have rushed myself into painting them and I could have used a little more time, specially on the weapons. Well, that's a lesson learned for the rest of muties to come. For now, these do their part.
More to come soon(-ish)!!

  1. I'm terribly fan of the idea. I have no choice but to replicate it at some point I'm afraid.

  2. That's a sizable crew! I'm sure they'll look even better en masse! Those skitarii rifles work really well with them.

    1. Thank you! This is one of those projects you don't know how will turn out until you see the minis. There are lots of things that could be improved, but on the whole they look fun!

  4. Sinister, but somehow pathetic in a way that makes you empathise with them. Muties are people too!

    1. They are! Right you are! Those poor buggers had a life and now they are but outcasts trying to endure out of a society that hates them. Free the mutants now!! :D

    1. Thank you! I'm still unsure of what will I do with the rest. As they are the same minis but repeated, I guess I'll play a little more with head swaps, that kind of stuff. Lots of surprises ahead!

    1. Thank you! Had I attached to a theme I guess they would have looked more like a proper tribe, but in their messy looking lays part of their appeal...

  12. Wow! Great work. Looking forward to seeing all of them together. Easier for an acolyte to set them on fire that way.

When I get back to regular boys after the creatures I guess I'll be doing some more extreme conversions. That Skitarii box still has a lot to offer!
