I’m taking these days to dive into smaller projects, the kind that let you see results and keep the momentum going. And among them, I’ve had my eye on the Röknauts bikers from Ontos Games for quite a while now. 2nd Ed. looking not-Squats, a bullet I thought I’d dodge, but which has ended up hitting me... and I’m quite happy about it! I painted a squad some time ago and left it at that, but over time I’ve felt the need to expand the force. Five Squats won’t get me very far! And that’s how I ended up picking up this bike unit.
There's not much to say in fact, as I just followed the very same colour scheme.

Most definitely not White Scars, though I get the misunderstanding

I could (and maybe should) have been more original with the banner, but it's staying that way

I admit it, he has a slight resemblance to Jagathai Khan
I feared it all was too white, specially on the leader, the Rökthane. It cannot be seen well in the pic above, but the winged helmet was quite a lot. However, I decided to keep it that way.

Coming soon!

Excellent looking Squat bikers, just call them what they are in your head!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you! I think it's really interesting/fun that we got to know them under the Imperial perspective, hence the pejorative term "Squat". Of course they don't call themselves that, but it adds another layer to the WH40K fluff!
DeleteGreat job and a very crisp white paint job. 😃
ReplyDeleteThank you! I needed a few layers to make it work, but I hope it does the trick!
DeleteVery nice Suber.
ReplyDeleteJust the thing to bring the enemy low 😁
Hahaha! Thanks! I never thought I would end up painting Squats, and now I need to paint another squad!
DeleteThey look perfect Suber!
ReplyDeleteThanks! They really get that 90's vibe that caught my eye, I love the models!
DeleteGreat work as always!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I enjoyed them a lot!
DeleteSquats is Squats. Kin is Kin. Rök is Stöne. Call 'em what you like. And I think the bold white really works for them!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And you're totally right! I'm afraid I'm no longer young enough to start learning those new names such as Votann, Aeldari and stuff!
DeleteThey look fantastic. I think the white works really well.
ReplyDeleteBill.
Thank you! I was afraid of abusing white, but hopefully the colour combo works enough!
DeleteVery nice, they are cool figures.
ReplyDeleteThank you! They are! I really love what Curis is doing with Ontos!!
DeleteSquats, they were always Squats and always will be, Squats. (Tho Votann are pretty cool too.)
ReplyDeleteReally like these! They look dead nifty and I can see them running over grots and nidlings all over the table with those big arse tyres!
Haha, I need to set that image up! Where do I have those grots...?
DeleteQuality stuff! I really like the white and blue combination. I find it very difficult to paint white that doesn't look dirty. Very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Right, it's tricky, I was a bit worried they might end up looking like Apple Squats, all pristine and white on their iBikes... I hope they work fine!
DeleteLovely stuff. I love the range of old school inspired figures coming out!
ReplyDeleteThank you! There's a sweet revival of that style and I'm so happy!
DeleteExcellent work on your bikers Suber, the blue really pops off of the white armour color, and the sculpts look really good, have the retro vibe, but better done.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I like them and in the end I'm pleased with the colour scheme. Need to do a few more!
DeleteWoah those helmets look wicked, and I think the white is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I like the white/blue combo, I hope they look good enough!
