Assistant crew

Tech Priests and novices require assistance from menial workers who can deal with basic procedures and help with Servitors. These workers can be later initiated in the rites of the Omnissiah or keep on doing their jobs for life.

He looks bossy

His companion looks a little bit creepy, but it's not his fault

I could have painted this mini as a regular worker with the rest of the batch of my previous post, but the pose, the attitude, the face... Everything convinced me to paint him as a Servitor.

Checking on his soldering iron. Looks safe

I'm unsure of what function does this Servitor fulfil, but he looks cool anyway.

Edward Whateverhands

If I was unsure about that one, wait a minute and see this other one:

I bet it is a Chimp Servitor

Well, this post is getting more and more confusing with each pic. The last mini today... well, I didn't see this coming, promise.

At least as qualified as any other member of the crew

I really didn't have the time to take a pic of all of them beside a ship, but t least here you have them all:

Still baffled about the pig?

Searching for truffles is a Mechanicus authorised task, apparently

Using such a restricted palette helped me to save a lot of time. It gives them a sense of coherence and ties them into the theme, so I'm happy with the time/result ratio.

Not that many Astropolis minis left. Just saying...

  3. These look excellent Suber, and the limited palette works so well on these models.

    1. Thank you! It was a trick to work faster, but I honestly think it suits them!

  4. Love them all! Great coloring on some really cool models. Bonus: Battle Pig! The colors you chose for that are perfect. Way too many pink pigs out there.

    1. Thanks! Oh, I was sure I didn't want a pink pig! I spent some time looking for pics of different kinds of pigs... which might have set my browser history kind of... confusing. Puzzling. Challenging. Oh, whatever.

  6. Suber - I am so glad you have introduced me to Astropolis miniatures. Each one that you've pained is more interesting and hilarious than the last.
And the pig tops them all!

    1. Haha, all the minis have tons of charm. They have this retrofuturistic look that makes them so appealing, but you are right, the pig beats them all :D

  7. These minis are awesome, really characterful sculpts and your painting's really brought their character to life! And "Edward Whateverhands" had me genuinely laughing out loud :-)

    1. Haha, but the good thing about these is that they leave quite a thing to imagination, you don't really get to fully know each detail, so you can do a lot of things with them! :D

    1. Despite all being quite bland-like into the tech sector, I find them charming, each one on its own, all the Astropolis minis are pretty fun to paint!

  9. A crazy crew! You did a very nice paint job to make these character-filled Karpov's miniatures come alive and cohesive. We didn't know there was also a space pig; we only knew his fantasy counterpart, more disturbing because it has explosive barrels tied around his body. We hope that the pig technician has a longer life together with the members of his crew...

    1. Haha, all these pieces are terrific. The Brueghelburg range by Ratnik is awesome too, I guess I'll end up picking some minis at some point :)
