A very quick post today, and with something slightly different from the usual.
These Christmas I got this gift from my sweet Mrs. Suber, who for the first time dared to step through the dark path of the hobby:

Yay! [Imperial March sounds in the background]
The kit is pretty simple and straightforward:

This is what you get. Used to GW, this looks manageable
In fact, now that I say "used to GW"... Well, used to GW kits, which don’t always fit perfectly (and even when they do, tend to leave ugly gaps), this one feels like heaven. It’s a real piece of engineering; everything just falls into place flawlessly.
In fact there's little else to say. This is the complete kit, ready to be painted:

I'd totally have a PC mouse shaped like this

Oh, and primed the stand in black, obviously
I couldn't resist to take a couple of pics on my X-Wing space mat:

More atmospherical, I hope

Now you are making noises in your head too, admit it
I feel a sudden urge to play Star Wars Armada or something like that. For now this little beauty goes to the shelf. I'm so happy with it!
In a few days I hope I'll resume normal activity! See you soon!

Looking good! I have a Slave-1 kit from them up on the shelf, might have to dig it out one of these days…
ReplyDeleteThese kits are really wonderful, it was very relaxing just assembling this one so peacefully XD
DeleteAh, lovely Star Destroyer!
ReplyDeleteThanks! You'll hardly find something more iconic than this!
DeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Easy to build and to paint, so a really blissful experience :D
DeleteExcellent Suber! And well done Mrs. Suber too. 😁
ReplyDeleteI have three or four of these in my stash for reasons*, together with a Death Star as well. 😂
One day I will get to them.
* I think they were cheap.
Thank you! Haha, I hope that Death Star is not at the same scale!!
DeleteThat looks very good! I've not seen a Revell kit for many years and I'm impressed. I often wonder about getting their tank kits for conversion parts. An excellent gift!
ReplyDeleteThank you! A pal of mine gave me some spare bits from a Revell kit some time ago and I've bee using those for my own kits, they are delightful and add a lot of depth to the regular stuff!
DeleteAwesome gift, it's nice to just make a model and paint it for the fun of it, when you don't need it for any other purpose
ReplyDeleteYou're totally right! In this case I was surprised by how smooth all the process was, a time of pure joy and relax!
DeleteDUN DUN DUNN DUN DA DUNN DUN DA DUNNN
ReplyDeleteNo shame whatsoever. I like how you can go as far as you want with these; painting in more greebles, lights etc. seems like it'd be totally possible?
Haha, you're totally right. In fact I confess I toyed with the idea of doing that, going all crazy with highlights, small lights and all that stuff. But I had to take a deep breath and then declared me happy with it as it was!
DeleteYou didn't super-detail it?? Where are the elevating gun turrets??
ReplyDeleteJust kidding, great job, and YES it is amazing to just bash a kit out sometimes.
Haha, I need sanity!!! No, seriously, i really considered doing some more stuff, but I closed my eyes, breathed deeply and got to be able to move forward! Lol
DeleteSurprised you didn't feel like tackling Thrawn's ISD with the stylised hydra paint job? Regardless, I like this model a lot - Revell's SW range seems really well designed.
ReplyDeleteUsed to own a lot of Armada stuff, but sadly the game rules just didn't do it for me. Like many of the Fantasy Flight titles, too many counters on the game table.
Haha, can you believe I briefly considered it? But then I thought I preferred to stick to the true classic :D
DeleteOh, I totally concur, there is quiet an abuse of counters in Armada, it's a kind of bummer to me, and it happens (maybe to a lesse extent, but still happens) in X-Wing. Fortunately I just need to go "woooosh" "pew pew" to be happy :D
Lovely looking Star destroyer!
