Thirteen years ago today, I embarked on the adventure of starting a blog. Thirteen years!

So today is anniversary day. Another year has gone by and here we are again! Time to recap, what happened in the Old School Workshop in the last 12 months?
We had these Frostgrave/Stargrave beasts:

| Ugly, but cute |
And I closed the year with these brave not-Praetorian people:
![]() |
| I fall in love again every time I get to see this pic again |
2025 started with a crazy project, even for my standards:

| The Carcharodons RealScale Dreadnought |
But then... oh, my sweet friends. Then. Then I lost any trace of sanity and started a new spiral of madness. Titans. The new Adeptus Titanicus.

Yeah, this is insane. But beautiful! I regret nothing!
Besides, to get my feet to the ground from time to time, I also painted some more Orks!

Oh, well, yes, this is my concept of sanity. Yes, I hear you, right, I'm aware of what you are saying, point taken.
But I also had a game of Kingdom Death Monster. Awesome and crazy beyond any measure.

| Seriously, you all have to play this game. I mean it |
I also got to another project (wow, I'm starting to realise that there are too many!). I'm not sure if this counts as a new project or coming back to a totally forgotten one, but this marks my turn back to Warhammer fantasy after decades of oblivion. If I ever play again, I'm going back to 4th edition, maybe 5th, the games I started with. No ToW for now. Then I'm back to the minis of that era:
Oh, I'm not posting these all in exact chronological order, but more or less in blocks.
I made a standalone side project with some other minis that were asking for some love:

| Minis from long time ago |
During late summer I refurbished my old Sammar Nauth vignette and made this landing platform:
![]() |
| Which unfortunately I had to decommission almost immediately. Decision on it still pending |
I run a kind of beta test on the Qala Debdou board, where we played Necromunda:

And even if the result wasn't the expected one, we did have a lot of fun!
After that I scratchbuilt a Techmarine for my Carcharodons, as my army was lacking one:
![]() |
| And a standard bearer too |
That gave some time to finally start the upper module for my Qala Debdou board:
I took some time to get back to the World of Twilight:
And managed to run another game on the board, this time a little bit more satisfying:This takes us to this very month of November, in which I enjoyed the Halloween spirit with these:
And finally added some more stuff to the board:
Wow, it certainly looks like more stuff when you put it all together! I can say it's been a fruitful year. I've started new projects, made some progresses on some others... Yes, I know I haven't actually closed any ongoing project, but well, I can live with that. I can see I have started to play again, which looks promising, and I can say without a trace of doubt that I have enjoyed every damn second, and I think that's what really counts.
Free time is scarce (I started a new job quite recently and I'm still getting used to the new responsibilities and facing kind of a whole new perspective on my career, which is also taking some extra time) but I'm confident about the future nevertheless.
For now my top priorities are making more progress on the board (I don't dare to asy I'll finish it, but I'm commited to put some good work on it), work on the Bretonnia army and get the children more involved, as they are showing more interest in dad's toys. I tend to not make any promises, but I can say I'm willing to start Season 14!
Thank you, my dear readers, for your continuous support. Blogging isn't the fanciest thing in these Instagram days, I'm aware, but every single comment encourages me, every post of yours makes my day, knowing that you all are facing the hobby with enthusiasm... well, makes it all worth.
If you are willing to start the 14th year of this adventure with me, I'll be more than honoured.
Let's go!

Some wonderful projects there to be proud of - Happy Blogoversary!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I tend to do overly crazy stuff, but it's always rewarding!
DeleteHappy Anniversary!!! 13 years?? Woow! (Have the same ;p)
ReplyDeleteLove your minis and hand made/converted terrains
Thanks! Time flies indeed!
DeleteTop old school workshopping. Happy anniversary & keep it up.
ReplyDeleteDecloaking to own up to the preceding anonymous post. I meant every word of it.
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank you so much! By the clarification too!
DeleteHappy 13th Anniversary. Thats quite a mix of cool stuff. Nice work. Its a pleasure reading your blog, keep it up. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I enjoy the whole process and I still have like a ton of pending work, so I think I'll keep on blogging for a while!
DeleteCongratulations.
ReplyDeleteI am new to blogging having only started last year, but reading through your numerous posts has brought me joy, so thank you for all that you have posted.

WFB FTW!!
4th will do I guess, but really you should do 3rd?
:P
Thank you! Oh, I have never got the chance to play 3rd, but I admit I'm curious about it, like really curious to give it a try, but no one in my surroundings is brave enough to do that! I'm baiting my pals with Middlehammer in the hope of convincing them to try 3rd one day!
DeleteWow, Suber, that is an amazing amount of stuff! I had no idea that you'd painted so many orcs. The Bretonnians look particularly cool, but then I am biased. It a very impressive range of models. Happy anniversary and I hope the blog continues for many more years!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have to admit I didn't remember some of the Orks, I thought I had painted them last year!! XDDD
DeleteGlorious stuff, one and all!
ReplyDeleteAnd what do you mean too many projects, just don’t look directly at all of it at once 😜
Hahaha, thank you! Right, that's the solution! I think I can embark on new adventures yet...
DeleteGood stuff and here's to the next 13 years!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll try to keep it up!
DeleteCongratulations Suber on 13 years of posts. Thank you for all the effort you put in to share your progress as it is always entertaining and your painting and projects are inspirational.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your new job.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you find them inspirational, I just enjoy sharing thes crazy projects :D
DeleteWhat an amazingly productive year, and twelve more preceeding it (which I shall check through).
ReplyDeleteGood luck for the future, and thanks for sharing and inspiring
Thank you very much! When starting to write the post I though I hadn't make much progress this year, "bah, mostly Titanicus and the mining town". But then I was like "oh, the Dread; ah, and these Orks; oh, even more Orks..." XD I'm happy to have a more varied outcome than expected!
DeleteHuzzah!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 13 years of awesome blogging and indeed an incredibly productive year with some utterly brilliant projects!
Thank you! I've enjoyed them all, and I still have some crazy ideas in mind. I have quite a lot of work ahead!
DeleteAmazing year! You are an inspiration for all of us! In terms of creativity and yes, also a bit of madness. For another 13 years!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Oh, it's just all madness and a bit of paint spilt on it...
DeleteFor 13 more!

ReplyDeleteOh, thanks! I'll write you at the contact form on your blog! :D
DeleteConfirmed 😎
DeleteCongrats !
ReplyDeleteI reckon we've both started at the same period and how times fly ! I realised not long ago I had painted about 2000 models in that time !
It's been a pleasure following your projects all this time and I fully hope you get as many good years in the future !
Thank you! Right, time flies indeed! I still keep on regarding your blog as a huge reference, I'm so happy to be part of such a community :)
DeleteCongratulations, you should be really proud of your output, and we certainly enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm so glad you enjoy my silly projects, I have real fun with them all, and I hope I will still bringing them for some time! :D
DeleteImpressive, most impressive! Love that Necromunda board, it looks great! And the old-school metal 40K orks too!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Those two projects still need to be combined!!
ReplyDeleteImpressive years output! As you say it doesn't matter what you're doing in the hobby as long as you are enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you! I firmly believe that, the only thing that matters is if you are enjoying the stuff you do. I'm doing that so far, so you can expect some more silly projects for quite some time! :)
DeleteHappy 13th - love the RT orks and Bretionians
ReplyDeleteThank you! I try to mix old and new stuff, but I have a soft spot for that kind of minis, you know :P
DeleteA very impressive and happy 13 years senor! As you've mentioned above, it's not easy at all to stay on target with blogging in this social media world. I've failed miserably at keeping my blog going this year. I miss the days of being as productive as you have been in 2025 - colour me envious and impressed!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you have in the planning for 2026!
Thank you! But let me insist, output is not what matters, the only relevant thing is to have fun while doing it! :)
DeleteGorgeous and terrifyingly productive joy on these pages as ever. Have a great holiday season, my guy. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Enjoy the holidays!! Cheers!
